Let’s just hope this doesn’t head towards the team.

Well, The North may be no more, but we’ve got several other direction to take on a compass rose.

In a tweet published at Noon in the land of one of the greatest esports countries Denmark, Team South CSGO, who will be simply known as “South” on the server — have come out with a fully Danish roster — 2 of the 5 players of which are former North members.

Back in February, North, who were once amongst the leading Danish CSGO teams in the world, ceased all operations due to financial constraints.

“We have searched the market to get one or more co-investors on board, but unfortunately have not found the right match.” -Lars Bo Jeppsen, former COB at North

The costs of running the esports branch which is connected to FC Copenhagen had become extensive with the Covid-19 pandemic, causing the esports division to shut down just 4 years after its initiation.

Similar to Eternal Fire, a Turkish team announced a couple weeks ago, South is a player created team looking for an organization to represent within the foreseeable future. Of course, it will take the Danes some time and showing to get on the eyes of bigger organizations as there are already two other top Danish teams that they will most likely (at least currently) dwell in their shadows: Astralis and Heroic. Complexity have also gone mostly Danish with the recent pick up of former Colossus member Patrick “es3tag” Hansen, who replaced 27-year old American William “RUSH” Wierzba, also a former Cloud9 player.

The team that MSL has been teasing for the past couple months are set to make their debut in a best of 3 today against Monte Carlo in the 3rd series of the Funspark ULTI 2021 European region, with South being an obvious favorite.

Though the 5 have not yet played any official matches, there is past team chemistry that should aid them in their starting matches until they settle in and adapt to each other’s playstyles. The In-Game Leader will have 2 of his former members on the team, aizy and TENZKI, who he played with during his time on North and Dignitas, respectively. As for JuGi, his last (and only? Sorry, North and all other teams) experience on a top team was with Astralis when Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander and Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth took a temporary medical leave. Unfortunately, however, he was unable to perform up to a level that allowed him to keep his spot on the team as it did for Bubzkji.

As of now, South are:

🇩🇰 Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen (IGL)

🇩🇰 Philip “Aizy” Larsen

🇩🇰 Jakob “JuGi” Hansen (AWP)

🇩🇰 Frederik “Fessor” Sørensen

🇩🇰 Jesper “TENZKI” Mikalski

The team is yet to announce a coach.
